Our virtual Europe Summit was held on Thu, March 27, 2025 (3-6 PM CET / 2-5 PM UK/ 10 AM-1 PM EDT)
During the My Green Lab Europe Summit 2025, we explored case studies and innovations that are shaping sustainability in the lab, gained practical knowledge through our panels, and connected with science professionals across all sectors.
Whether you're looking to review a session you already attended or missed the summit the first time around, you can now access the summit recordings! Register below if you have not already to gain access to the recordings, speaker slides, and the Q&A report!
Key highlights from the summit include:
The role of product innovation in lab sustainability, including biobased alternatives to reduce carbon footprints.
Designing efficient labs and implementing simple solutions for greater organizational impact.
Navigating emerging sustainability policies and going beyond compliance to drive meaningful change.
Congratulations to INFORS HT on Their New ACT Ecolabels!
Our congratulations to INFORS HT on their new ACT labels for the Multitron incubator shaker.
The Multitron is the first shaker to receive the My Green Lab ACT Ecolabel, which provides third-party verified environmental impact data across key sustainability criteria.
Notable features include 3.5 kWh daily energy consumption, 60% recycled iron counterweight, and packaging that incorporates a 100% recycled polyurethane foam pad.
Congratulations to Avantor Europe's UK team for Achieving My Green Lab Certification!
Starting with small changes, the team's passion for greener practices grew into a structured effort to reduce environmental impact. By pursuing My Green Lab Certification, they gained a roadmap for sustainability best practices, leading to positive results.
15% reduction in solvent waste through updated standard operating procedures
Energy-efficient upgrades, including fume hoods and motion-sensor lighting
Improved waste reduction strategies, from silica vials to clearer signage
Ongoing engagement and education to build a lasting culture of sustainability
Their efforts have earned them a Silver Certification, joining a global community of labs recognized for their commitment to sustainability.
Throughout Earth Month, we’ll be sharing sustainability tips and updates to help reduce your environmental impact, starting with a few of our favorite links to greener practices for your lab.
At My Green Lab, our mission is to build a global culture of sustainability in science. We believe that the pursuit of discovery and the protection of our planet go hand in hand, and we’re working every day to make science more sustainable.
#HowToGreenLab: Our monthly series with tips and hacks for a sustainable lab
Join us in celebrating science that supports a healthier planet!
Does Your Lab Have Fridges, Freezers, and Other Cold Storage?
If so, you can participate in our free Freezer Challenge program, which is all about sustainability through better lab cold storage manintenance.
Looking for a simple way to make your lab more sustainable? The Freezer Challenge is a free, global competition that helps labs optimize their cold storage—reducing energy use while improving sample management and equipment performance.
From cleaning out old samples to adjusting temperatures and defrosting regularly, the Freezer Challenge offers simple, impactful steps your lab can take to reduce energy use. It’s a fun, collaborative way to boost your lab’s sustainability efforts—and get recognized for it!
Participating labs have saved enough energy to power hundreds of homes for a year. Join the movement and make your cold storage practices count.
Valuable tips and hacks to help green your lab: a 'How to Green Your Lab' monthly series!
This month's #HowToGreenLab tip is to provide clearly labeled, easily accessible bins for each waste stream—including recycling, landfill, compost (if available), and any lab-specific waste like gloves or pipette tips. Clear signage with visual cues and examples of what belongs in each bin can help reduce confusion and contamination.
Placing bins in high-traffic areas, like near lab benches, break rooms, and entryways, makes it easier for everyone to participate. Proper waste sorting not only diverts materials from landfills but also supports institutional sustainability goals, reduces environmental impact, and fosters a culture of mindfulness and responsibility within the lab.
Small changes in behavior—like taking a moment to sort waste correctly—can make a big difference over time.
Join us at the 2025 Lab Manager Leadership Summit, an exclusive event for laboratory leaders and decision-makers across clinical, forensic, environmental, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and life science fields. The Summit offers interactive sessions, hands-on workshops, and insightful presentations designed to elevate your leadership skills. My Green Lab Attendees: Scott Grant (Senior Director Of Programs) and Kayla Stocking (Market Development Representative).
My Green Lab's Director of Communities, Christina Greever-Wilson, will speak on lab sustainability efforts at the upcoming LabOps United Community Bay Area Chapter Day on April 9th. This event brings together LabOps professionals, industry leaders, and solution providers to share best practices, discuss challenges, and explore innovations that drive efficiency in lab operations. My Green Lab Attendees: Christina Greever-Wilson (Director of Communities).
The Making Pharmaceuticals Conference and Distributing Pharmaceuticals Conference run concurrently across the two days of the event, with eight theatres in total covering topics across the whole product lifecycle from discovery to distribution. Gain new knowledge, be inspired, and challenge your existing thinking. Attend My Green Lab's Jack O'Grady in the Panel Discussion: What Would the Lab of the Future Look Like?
