Manufactured in Wexford, Ireland, the SQD 2 single quadrupole mass spectrometer contains up to 20% recycled content and is shipped using packaging composed primarily of recyclable materials, including corrugated cardboard, timber, and aluminum foil. With an estimated lifespan of 15 years, the system is a robust addition for laboratories looking for easy, versatile mass detection.
Key sustainability features of the MALDI-8000 series MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometers, as verified by the ACT certification, include: total energy consumption of about 4.6 kWh per day under typical use, a nearly 75% reduction in material weight compared to previous models, and the use of readily recyclable materials in both the product and packaging.

Funding Will Advance Third-Party Verified Sustainability in Science
Hear from our CEO, James Connelly, in this new Technology Networks article!
Impact Laboratories, My Green Lab's commercial subsidiary, is leading the charge to bring third-party verification to lab sustainability. CEO James Connelly, in conversation with Technology Networks, explains why moving beyond self-reported claims is essential for transparency, credibility, and industry-wide progress.
“I come from the building industry, and nobody in the building industry would accept a manufacturer’s claim about their product that’s not verified, whether it has to do with performance, indoor air quality, or sustainability,” said James. “For some reason, the life science industry has a lot of these first-party claims that have been acceptable.”

Looking for a simple way to keep sustainability top of mind in the lab? Try kicking off team meetings with a “Green Minute.”
Use this time to share a quick tip, spotlight a sustainable action someone took, or introduce a new eco-friendly practice. It’s a small habit that builds awareness, encourages conversation, and keeps momentum going, one minute at a time.
Because sustainability isn’t a side task, it’s a shared mindset.
At My Green Lab, our work would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors and donors. As we look toward a more sustainable future, it's clear that progress is possible when innovation and action come together.
If you're feeling inspired, consider donating to My Green Lab. Your donation helps fund our programs that make science more sustainable, reduce environmental impact, and ensure the research powering our future is as green as possible.
In this webinar, Scientist.com and My Green Lab will address the environmental impact of scientific laboratories, how organizations can reduce their impact while seeing a cost savings, and how this information can impact sourcing decisions and drive commercial growth.
